TCP STORY

Founded in 2016 by Dave and Geralyn Hickey, The Coffee Potter (TCP) is a sanctuary for people to enjoy great coffee and good food in the company of their friends, family and neighbors.

When they opened TCP, the Hickeys’ vision was to create a new kind of business, one that allowed them to be relational with their customers in a community they felt deeply connected to. Their slogan, “All Are Welcome” opened the doors of The Coffee Potter to any and all looking for a perfectly brewed cup, and a place for meaningful connection.

To build on their mission, the Hickeys hired Leah and Michael Sciancalepore in 2017, a husband and wife team who shared the Hickeys’ vision of uniting their community through coffee and friendship. During their seven years as head managers, Leah and Michael expanded TCP’s community through the shop’s core values of Integrity, Quality, Kindness, Respect, & Fun.

In February of 2023, the Hickeys saw new opportunities arise, and sold The Coffee Potter into the care of the Sciancalepore’s and the Jayne’s. As Long Valley natives and longtime TCP customers, Wes and Kyle Jayne see The Coffee Potter as an intrinsic part of what makes Long Valley special, and the four owners believe in the necessity of continuing the Hickeys’ vision to create a sanctuary of connection.

The Sciancalepore's and Jayne's lead a vibrant, high performance team of baristas who are all committed to The Coffee Potter mission. Integrity, Quality, Kindness, Respect, & Fun are what our team strives for every day.

So come down to the shop, or stop in the drive-thru. We want to connect with you, and we hope that you find your community through our coffee.

All Are Welcome.

TCP COMMUNITY

As part of our commitment to a community-first mission, TCP partners with local organizations throughout the year to collaborate, fundraise, and bring neighbors together. With events like the Sirens and Sneakers 5K, the Washington Police Flag Football Game, Long Valley Food Pantry Fundraiser, and T-shirt fund drives to benefit the Washington PBA and breast cancer charities, TCP is always on the lookout for opportunities to give back to Long Valley.

We are also committed to bringing our patrons locally made treats and merchandise with local vendors: “Linda’s Biscottis”, “Ort Farms”, “37 Candle Co.” and many others.

We are most proud that in 2024, our Long Valley neighbors came together and helped us send donations to the victims of Hurricane Helene. Our community rallied around our call for help and TCP was able to delivery multiple vehicle and a trailer load of goods to those in rural NC.

We are always open to collaborations with local organizations. If you and your business would like to find new ways to bring Long Valley together, we’d love to hear from you!
